By chance, a PhD defense will be happening, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to experience Leiden’s unique traditions firsthand! You’re warmly invited to attend the defense of one of our PhD students in the field of reproductive immunology. Join the audience and witness her defense—it’s an experience not to be missed, and it only takes one hour!

The Academic Building in Leiden, dating to 1516, is a historic hub of Leiden University. It hosts key ceremonies like PhD defenses in its iconic rooms, symbolizing the university’s long-standing academic tradition.

What: possibility to visit the Anatomic Museum

Where: Education Building LUMC Hippocratespad 21

Costs: FREE, no registration required

Next to the presentation room, we have the Anatomic Museum of the LUMC. Special for ESRI guest, the doors are opened and you are welcome to visit the museum this evening!

800 anatomical preparations and models can be found in a museum in the education building of the LUMC. The Anatomical Museum supports medical and biomedical education in Leiden. The museum was nominated for the “European Museum of the Year Award” in 2009.

Clear your schedule for Tuesday evening—you won’t want to miss this! After Prof.dr. Frans Claas’s presentation, we’re all heading out for a fantastic time together. We’ve reserved a pub close to the presentation… We’ve got a surprise lined up! A live band will be performing, and the lead singer? Let’s just say, it’s someone VERY special.
